Dil Chahta Hai...

I was sitting around today thinking to myself how long its been since I last watched a movie on television. Every minute that you dont spend studying or partying is always spent sleeping..

So I decided that today I was gonna watch a movie and remeniss on pre ISB life... And guess what.. Playing on TV was Dil Chahta Hai...

It was ironic... Here we are spending each fleeting hour buried in some work or the other to get our heart's desire but we miss out on life...

So far.. So good... Soooo Tiring...

All apologies for not blogging through the last month..

I've finally caught up with myself... And have settled in my new life here...

Things were great the first week... Most of our time was spent in team building and "Orientation" activities.. Of course not to discount the parties.. we had parties almost everyday in the first week.. alums hosting for us... we hosting for the alums... and general let's get together for a drink...

My definition of sleep changed after coming to ISB... Sleep is now something that we do when we dont have something else to do.. The Alums actually told us to study and when not studying to party... They said "Sleep is unnecessary luxury".. So all of you planning on coming to ISB.. Be prepared to study hard... And party Harder...

The week after orientation was pre-terms.. those who took the pre-terms got a taste of what classes were gonna be like... and those who didnt just had to wait till the core term began... but the pre-terms studies were restricted to the 2hr sessions... so the rest of the time was spent in exploring the hot spots in Hyderabad...

And now pre-terms are done and its onto the core terms... Watch out for the action in the core terms...

Suggestions from the CO 2007..

Just a couple of days before we set foot into ISB... Cant wait..

Yesterday we met with several members of the CO 2007 here in chennai.. Discussions ranged from placements to day-to-day living.. grades to parties... SFA to TAs.. All were really friendly and helpful and they had the same things to say about the earlier batches...

A few sugeestions they gave us..

1. Network with the Alumni from the initial days as they are prized source for all guidance..
2. Dont take the initial terms lightly... Grades once low are difficult to pull up... Merit listers are at an significant advantage so give it your best shot..
3. Do not be so caught up with the grade race that you do not enjoy everything else.... Its not only about academics but about the entire experience...

Many from the CO 2007 will be there on Sunday for the orientation week... It will be great to have them there to make sure that we start on the right foot and in the right style.. the ISB way..

A prequel to ISB..

After numerous meets.. Coffee.. Lunch.. Pubbing.. Bowling.. Chennai finally hosted its ISB meet at the Beach..

The venue sponsored by one of our own was the perfect setting for a fun filled day... with the largest turnout so far the meet brought together 18 of us.. Admits and Spouses.. To leisure and try our hands at the perfect mix...

THANK YOU !!

Those two words are an attempt at expressing gratitude to all who have taken time from their immensely hectic life the past year to share.. It has been through you all that we've begun to experience life at ISB much before setting foot there..

Whether it's applications, interviews, day - to - day living, placements or partys.. there's always been posts about it.. posts that we as admits have spent several hours reading...

I know there are many out there.. the future members of the classes to come who, I am sure, will greatly miss the posts... So it is in this tradition that we "the class of 2008" open-up our blogs.. a window to ISB 2007-2008... Hoping that we will be able to do what all of you have done so well in the last year...

So here's a toast.. To all of you..

After a year at ABN AMRO and 1.5 at Cognizant I'm making my way back to school.. I was accepted into the ISB CO 2008 on the 15th of December..

Its been a long time since then, time spent winding up things at work, spending as much time with family and getting to know as much about ISB and my classmates.

Orkut has been a real gift. In the last several months I've come to know so many I would have only met once I reached there. It has also served as a medium for all sorts of discussions, suggestions and numerous lighter moments. It has made ISB a part of our day-to-day lives even before we get there.

Admits in several towns have been meeting up on regularly. We in chennai have met almost every alternate week since the results were declared and yet each time there have been new additions to the group.

I've finished most of the joining formalities. Education loan also sanctioned. Now am just counting days till we get there, so far.. its been great.
